Schools are entrusted with the safety of societies most vulnerable population... Our children.  It is a school system's most important responsibility to keep its students safe.  Across the country, there is a mission to increase the safety of school children.  One area schools are pushing to increase safety is at bus stops, where millions of traffic violations occur every year across the country. If you have received a notice of violation, it is likely that a school district in the city you were driving in decided to leverage technology to decrease stop-arm violations and increase the safety of their students.

A crucial part to ensuring the safety of school children is for motorists to stop when they see a bus loading or unloading children.  It's the law. School busses are equipped with flashing lights and an extendable arm shaped like a stop sign to alert motorists driving near the school bus to stop.  Every state across the county has passed laws requiring motorists to stop when approaching a school bus that is onboarding or offloading its passengers.  In Oklahoma, this requirement includes the motorists traveling in the same direction as the school bus, as well as those in oncoming traffic.
